African Languages Academy (ALA) is a global space dedicated to preserving African languages and culture. Our mission is to help individuals and organizations connect and reconnect with the motherland.
Our History
It all began as a dream in one small village. Our founders refused to accept that their children, raised in a multicultural world, will miss the chance to fully master their local language. Not just in spoken form but also in written form and thus won't be able to share this with the next generation.
What started as a personal mission quickly grew into something bigger. They realized this wasn’t just one family’s challenge but a global one. Across America, UK, Europe, Asia, Africa and beyond, people of African descent are facing the same struggle.
After a long search for spaces that teach to preserve African languages and finding almost none, they decided to build one themselves. A global village where all people of African descent can come and click tongues and feel at home. That’s how the African Languages Academy was born.
